    Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by a special court in connection with a case filed by the BJP's Karnataka unit for issuing "defamatory" advertisements in mainstream newspapers. The advertisements accused the then BJP government of large-scale corruption during its 2019-2023 rule. The court granted bail to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar after they appeared before it in connection with the defamation case.

    A single bench of Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya restrained the BJP from publishing any kind of advertisements that breached the model code of conduct till June 4 or until further notice. "This court is surprised that no resolution worth the name has been arrived at regarding the said complaints to date, more so, since most of the phases of the electoral process are already over and only two phases are left and the entire election process shall be concluded by June 4," Justice Bhattacharya said in his order on a petition of the Trinamool Congress.

      The purported sting video surfaced on Saturday, which was posted by Trinamool in its X Handle. The veracity of the video has not been verified by The Economic Times. The video shows Gangadhar Koyal, a BJP Mandal president in Sandeshkhali-II, is seen admitting that no rape or sexual harassment had taken place in Sandeshkhali. He was also seen mentioning that women filed such complaints at the behest of LoP Suvendu Adhikari.
