    Article 370 abrogation harmed bond between J-K, rest of country: Omar Abdullah

    National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the BJP government has harmed the bond between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country with the abrogation of Article 370 provisions. Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement in Parliament, Abdullah said the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh were not happy with the decision to revoke special status of the erstwhile state.

    The Centre abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution - which gave special status to J&K - on August 5, 2019. The Centre also divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.

    BJP bats for conducting Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir

    BJP in Jammu and Kashmir has appealed for Assembly elections to be held, citing the Assembly's primary role in lawmaking. General Secretary Ashok Koul argued that local bodies or district development councils (DDCs) cannot create laws. Koul said the party will contest the polls on a large scale and put up a good show.
