    Govt okayed 43 projects in eco-sensitive zones in 5 years

    Union minister Ashwini Choubey in Rajya Sabha revealed that over the past five years, the Central government has approved environmental clearance for over 80 percent of proposed "projects and activities" within the eco-sensitive zones across the country. Choubey also disclosed that during this period, the Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SCNBWL) has recommended a total of 689 proposals.

    "The central government has notified Parasnath hills as an eco-sensitive zone and has given the mandate to the state government to prepare a tourism development plan. But no action has been taken on ground by the state government and in future also no action will be taken which would be against the sensitivity of the Jain pilgrims." In February 2019, the earlier Jharkhand government announced a list of places as places of importance for international tourism.
