Lost at sea: Sharp rise in container ship disasters

Thousands of cars including Audis, Porsches adrift on burning cargo ship

It’s not the first time the manufacturer has lost merchandise at sea. When the Grande America caught fire and sank in 2019, over 2,000 luxury cars, including Audi and Porsche, sank with it.

​​In the case of the ship Felicity Ace, thankfully, all 22 of its crew were evacuated this week after it caught fire. But according to the Portuguese navy, it continues to burn and is adrift in the mid-Atlantic - and here's the phantasmagoric bit - with a cargo of almost 4,000 cars that include 1,100 Porsches. Ironically, no Rolls-Royce Phantom VIIs are on board.
