Scientists unearth gigantic 'Bubble of Galaxies' in Earth's cosmic backyard
Astronomers have discovered a massive celestial structure, known as the "first bubble of galaxies," within our galactic neighborhood. This colossal finding, published in The Astrophysical Journal, is a result of extensive scientific inquiry. Spanning a billion light years, this enormous bubble is 10,000 times larger than our Milky Way galaxy. Nestled within the bubble is the Bootes supercluster of galaxies, surrounded by a vast void. This discovery confirms a hypothesis from 1970 and expands our understanding of the universe. The structure has been named "Ho'oleilana," meaning "sent murmurs of awakening" in Hawaiian.
