    India is collaborating with like-minded nations to advocate for regulated tourism in Antarctica, recognizing the threat posed by an increasing number of tourists to the continent's delicate ecology. The issue of regulating Antarctic tourism will be discussed at the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting and the Committee for Environmental Protection meeting in Kochi from May 20 to May 30. The Ministry of Earth Sciences, hosting these meetings, aims to facilitate visits to Indian research stations in Antarctica for the general public.

This convergence was possible as Odisha's economy grew faster (7.4%) than the national average (6.2%). Its population growth rate has slowed to 0.6% a year, compared to 0.9% for the nation.

    Bengaluru's Ferns Estates has acquired a luxury hotel in Goa with plans to develop additional suites, aiming to capitalize on the high demand for such accommodations. The company secured a ₹150 crore project loan from Bajaj Finance for this expansion. With Goa being a popular tourism destination, the move is expected to enhance Ferns Estates' profitability. Additionally, the company plans to add about 1,000 keys to its resort portfolio over the next 3-5 years, targeting diverse locations to cater to a wide range of travelers.

      Over 11% Indians diabetic, 36% have hypertension: Lancet survey shows

      A nationwide survey published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal has found that 11.4% of Indians have diabetes, rising from 7.5% in 2017. The study also found 35.5% of people had high blood pressure, 15.3% had prediabetes, 28.6% had generalised obesity and 39.5% had abdominal obesity. The study estimated that in 2021 there were 101 million people with diabetes and 136 million with prediabetes in India.
