The average time for project completion dipped to 35.4 months from 36.04 in March, with 48% of projects delayed for over two years. The government's focus on infrastructure is expected to continue as a growth driver in the coming year.
IL&FS files writ petition seeking Rs 775 cr in pending annuities from Jharkhand govt

Govt says 448 infra projects hit by cost overrun of Rs 5.55 lakh cr in Oct-Dec
The Quarterly Project Implementation Status Report (QPISR) for the third quarter of 2023-24 revealed that 448 infrastructure projects, each worth Rs 150 crore or more, experienced cost overruns of over Rs 5.55 lakh crore. Out of 1,897 projects, 56 were ahead of schedule, 632 were on schedule, and 902 were delayed. The anticipated completion cost was Rs 31,74,489.91 crore.

Chennai's Integral Coach Factory (ICF), a unit of Indian Railways, is readying the sleeper variant Vande Bharat trains. These trains will be put into service for long-distance overnight journeys soon after the next government takes charge, the officials said. The Vande Bharat trains currently being used have only chair seating, limiting their use to daytime routes which are covered in a few hours. GST compensation of Rs 17,176 crore pending to states as on June: Govt in RS
Replying to supplementaries during the Question Hour, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said the Centre is giving GST compensation to states for five years. He said even during Covid times when no GST was collected, the Government of India had given compensation to states after taking loans of Rs 1.1 lakh crore and 1.59 lakh crore during 2020-21 and 2021-22.
