35,819 candidates take foreign medical graduate exam: Health ministry
New Delhi: Over 35,000 candidates took the FMGE to practice medicine, said the Union health ministry. Conducted by NBEMS at 71 centres in 21 states with no incidents. Supervised by over 250 appraisers and 45 faculty, with senior officers deputed at all centres. NBEMS, an autonomous body, will declare results. Exams were augmented for smooth conduct.

Medical education regulator asks States, UTs to do away with seat leaving bond in medical colleges
The National Medical Commission (NMC) urges states and UTs to eliminate the seat leaving bond policy in medical colleges to support students' mental health. Instead of a heavy bond, states can consider debarring students who wish to leave the seat from admission in their state for one year. The NMC has received complaints about high levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among medical students, especially PG students.
PG medical counselling to be done only through online mode: NMC
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued the "Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023," announcing that all rounds of counselling for every seat will be conducted online by state or central counselling authorities. The regulations explicitly state that no medical college or institution is allowed to admit any candidate independently.
NEET-PG exam likely in first week of July; no National Exit Test this year
According to the recently-notified "Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023" which have replaced the Postgraduate Medical Education (Amendment) Regulations, 2018, the existing NEET-PG examination will continue till the proposed NExT becomes operational for the purpose of PG admission.
