    Vanishing vanaspati still plays an outsized role in calculation of WPI

    Although the usage of vanaspati has significantly reduced, it remains a significant factor in calculating the Wholesale Price Index (WPI). In India, vanaspati consumption has dropped from approximately 6% of total cooking oil consumption in 2010-11 to about 3% in 2022-23. While household consumption of vanaspati has declined and shows no signs of reversal, it remains prevalent in processed foods and the baking industry.

    Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, wanted in 11 terror attack cases in Jammu and Kashmir was arrested by Delhi Police's Special Cell from Delhi. It is a major breakthrough, Special Commissioner of Police (SCP) HGS Dhaliwal said at a press conference. He has been named in ​"11 known terror attack cases", including five grenade attacks and killing of at least five police personnel in sperate incidents, in Jammu and Kashmir, Dhaliwal said and added that he is a member of the terrorist outfits Hizbul Mujahideen and Al Badr.

    Neelam Verma, a 37-year-old woman with the necessary qualifications for a teaching position, cleared the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test seven years ago but remains unemployed. Renaming herself 'Neelam Azad,' she actively participated in protests for farmers' rights and female wrestlers, leading to her detention at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

    Some locals from Neelam's village said that she had also gone to the site of wrestlers' agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Two persons, including Neelam, protested outside the Parliament building and sprayed coloured gas from canisters while shouting slogans 'tanashahi nahi chalegi' (dictatorship will not be allowed). They were arrested by the Delhi Police. Neelam, who is around 36-years-old, was currently staying in a PG accommodation in Hisar for the last five months where she was preparing for competitive examinations, her brother Ram Niwas said.
