A six-storey residential building collapsed in Pal area of Surat city, trapping at least four to five people under the rubble. A woman has been rescued alive. Search and rescue operation are ongoing with NDRF and SDRF assistance. Officials including Surat district collector Sourabh Pardhi and Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot confirmed the incident.
Hathras stampede main accused arrested; police say he was recently contacted by political parties
Devprakash Madhukar, the main accused in the July 2 Hathras stampede that killed 121 people, has been arrested by the Special Operations Group of Hathras police. Madhukar worked as a fundraiser for events of self-styled godman Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias Bhole Baba and collected donations. The police will apply for remand of Madhukar and are checking his financial transactions, money trails, and call detail records.
RBI penalizes PNB, four other banks for regulatory non-compliance in first week of July
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has penalized five banks, including Punjab National Bank (PNB), for non-compliance with RBI directions. PNB became the fifth bank to be penalized, with a penalty of Rs 1.31 crore. The penalty was imposed for non-compliance with RBI directions regarding 'Loans and Advances: Statutory and Other Restrictions' and the 'Reserve Bank of India (Know Your Customer (KYC) Direction, 2016'.

Trai inputs sought on rolling out authorisation mechanism
