    Ivan Manuel Menezes, the India-born CEO of Diageo, died on Wednesday at the age of 64. He had been hospitalised to treat a stomach ulcer. Menezes, who was set to retire at the end of the month, had been a strong advocate for the Indian market and was described as the company’s “biggest brand ambassador for India”.

    Diageo's CEO Ivan Manuel Menezes died suddenly at the age of 63 in London just days after he was hospitalised for treatment. Menezes, who was set to retire at the end of April, was appointed CEO in 2013 and was there from Diageo's onset in 1997. The liquor giant credited Menezes with playing a key role in its diversification programme and said he was, without doubt, one of the finest leaders of his generation. Debra Crew will replace Menezes on an interim basis.
