Indians are increasingly shifting towards consumption of low-salt, low-sugar, and nutrition-fortified packaged food, reflecting a growing trend towards healthy eating habits. Sales of such products have risen in the last five years, with urban India leading the shift, although rural areas are also seeing an increase. This shift is driven by concerns over high levels of sugar, salt, and fat in processed goods, amidst rising health issues like diabetes and obesity.

There was a counter trend rally in China in April, but that has run out of steam quite badly in the last two or three weeks as the negative fundamentals have reasserted themselves, so that is nominal GDP growth that is running at only around a third of the level of India, a currency that is more susceptible to weakness than what you see in the case of the Indian rupee.

So, I said, over the past three years, India has been expensive post COVID. You have still put money. In fact, last year, they put cumulative $21 billion of net FPI flows into India. So, year-to-date why are you selling? And they said, finally, we do have an alternative.

Home loan borrowers may have repaid higher amounts
In FY23, for instance, the combined outstanding home loan portfolio of public sector and private banks and housing finance companies, which account for a big majority of the home loan market in the country was, Rs 3.62 lakh crore. But disbursements were much higher - at Rs 8.08 lakh crore.
