    Nagaland: Five feared drowned amid flooding and landslide

    Five individuals, including two children, are feared drowned in Nagaland due to extreme weather events with ongoing flooding and landslides caused by heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoon, resulting in fatalities and infrastructure damage. Search operations are ongoing for missing bodies, with various districts affected by landslides, road blockages, and evacuations, prompting the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority to issue alerts and forecasts for continued rainfall until July 9.

    Assam flood situation critical, 13 stranded fishermen rescued by IAF

    Earlier on Sunday, the IAF had rescued 8 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel and a revenue official from Jonai in Dhemaji district when they were stranded in another sandbar area during relief operations. Dibrugarh district has been severely affected in the current wave with the major town in Upper Assam inundated for the sixth consecutive day.

    Over 1,61,000 people affected by floods in Assam; landslide kills 5

    Heavy flooding and landslides have caused significant devastation in Assam and Meghalaya. In Assam, floods have affected over 1.61 lakh people across 15 districts since Cyclone Remal hit in May, resulting in approximately 30 deaths. Karimganj district is the worst hit, with 1,52,133 people affected and extensive damage to crops and livestock. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with 5,114 people taking shelter in relief camps amid submerged villages.

    Cyclone preparedness: 76 multi-purpose shelters built in coastal districts of Gujarat

    The Gujarat government, with the Centre and World Bank, has built 76 multi-purpose cyclone shelters (MPCS), mainly in coastal districts, to save lives during natural calamities. Cyclones have become frequent on the 1,600 km-long coastline of Gujarat, and actively relocating people from affected areas to safe locations is crucial before such disasters strike, the state government said in an official release.

    Assam floods: Death toll touches 25, over 10 districts affected

    The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that 5 people drowned in Cachar district, a woman died in Nagaon district, and a child died due to urban flooding in Kamrup (Metro) district on Tuesday.
