The monthly per capita consumption of these groups nearly tripled in rural areas.

The top court is hearing references to revisit a five-judge constitution bench judgement of 2004 in the case of 'EV Chinnaiah vs. State of Andhra Pradesh' in which it was held that SCs and STs are homogenous groups and hence, states cannot further sub-classify inside SCs and STs to grant quota inside quota for more deprived and weaker castes in these groups.
Govt issues notification to recognise as Kunbis kin of Marathas whose Kunbi caste records found

The Kunbi caste falls under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. The letter from the ministry made it clear that recommendation from the state government is a prerequisite to process the case further.

"Only 49.68 lakh people, or around 3.8 per cent of the population, own two-wheelers, while just 5.72 lakh people, or 0.11 per cent, have four-wheelers. Only 1.67 lakh people, or 0.13 per cent, own tractors," it stated. A total of 11.99 lakh of the 2.01 crore people belonging to general category own two-wheelers.

Over 42% of teaching positions reserved for OBC, SC, and ST candidates in 45 central universities in India are vacant, according to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Out of 7,033 positions sanctioned for OBC groups, 3,007 remain open which makes it 46% of posts for OBC candidates unfilled.
National Overseas Scholarship: Eligibility, process and other details
