J&K sees uptick in militant activities amid polls; two army personnel injured in encounter

This is the second encounter in Kashmir valley in less than two weeks. J&K Police said that a contact was established between militants and armed forces on Wednesday morning in Renji forest area of Bandipora's Aragam village and the search operation is going on.

NIA raids nine places in J-K in terror case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at nine locations in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, in connection with a case linked to terror activities. The searches were launched following specific information received about suspects in Srinagar. The suspects are linked to The Resistant Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which are proscribed organizations and have been instigating Kashmiri youth to join terrorist outfits like 'Jihad'.

4 Army men killed in encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

Officials said two captains, a havildar and a jawan have lost their lives during the encounter. A major and another jawan suffered injuries in the encounter, they said, adding the injured have been shifted to the Army's Command Hospital in Udhampur.

An official said that alert troops of the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district after engaging infiltrating terrorists in a sustained gunfight in which three terrorists were killed.

This morning, the hunt for the terrorists resumed after information started trickling that they were spotted at a hideout, the officials said. Colonel Singh, leading his team from the front, attacked the terrorists. However, the terrorists fired upon him and he was critically injured.

A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district, police said. They said a Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel was injured in the operation in Hoowra area of the south Kashmir district.
