    Railways extends existing train time table till December 31, 2024

    The Railway Board is reviewing train operations for efficiency enhancements, leading to the postponement of the new timetable release to January 1, 2025. This adjustment extends the existing train timetable until December 31, 2024, as per circulars issued by Railway zones.

    Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw announced special arrangements for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, including 315 special trains for devotees from states like Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, covering Odisha. Additionally, the Railway Ministry is establishing a holding area for 15,000 people, complete with toilets and a temporary ticketing center. Vaishnaw emphasized preparations for accommodating 1.5 million devotees. President Draupadi Murmu is also expected to visit. Previously, thousands attended Snana Purnima at the Jagannath Temple, where deities underwent ceremonial baths.

    Railways to run 315 special trains during Ratha Jatra

    The Ministry of Railways will also make arrangements for the accommodation of 15,000 devotees in Puri for the festival, he said. The special trains have been planned from Badampahad, Rourkela, Baleswar, Sonepur and Daspalla, Junagarh Road, Sambalpur, Kendujhargarh, Paradeep, Bhadrak, Angul, Gunupur, Bangiriposi on Gundicha Jatra, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a statement.

    The engine of the Ernakulam-Tata Nagar Express separated from the main body of the train in central Kerala on Friday morning. Railway sources reported that the detachment occurred at the third coach around 9:30 am. The incident did not cause injuries, and the problem was resolved promptly, allowing the train to continue its journey. The exact cause of the separation is under investigation by railway officials.
