Coal India to ease e-auction norms; plans to tweak auction, allocation methodology

The company has asked all its arms, except Northern Coalfields Ltd, to increase their offer quantity under e-auction to 40% of their total production for the second and third quarters of this financial year.

NLC India posts 22% rise in lignite production to 61.7 lakh tonnes in Q1
State-owned firm NLC India Ltd reported a 22.12 per cent increase in lignite production to 61.72 lakh tonnes in the first quarter of the current fiscal, up from 50.54 LT last year. Coal production also rose by 35.27 per cent to 28.46 LT. Gross power generation grew to 7,553.62 MU, including 546.63 MU of renewable power. Market capitalisation increased by 5.28 per cent to Rs 240.15 per share.

India's coal production rises 14% in June
India's coal production surged by 14.49 per cent to 84.63 MT in June. Coal India Ltd's output was at 63.10 MT, up by 8.87 per cent from the previous year. Coal dispatch reached 85.76 MT, a 10.15 per cent increase, while coal stock held by companies rose to 95.02 MT, showing a 41.68 per cent annual growth. Coal stock at thermal power plants also increased to 46.70 MT, with a 30.15 per cent annual growth rate, underscoring the sector's efficiency.
Coal India's Q1 production rises 8 pc to 189 MT

Coal stock at thermal power plants grows 32 pc to 45 MT
Thermal power plants (TPPs) in India reported their highest-ever coal stock of over 45 million tonnes on June 16, a 32% increase from the previous year. The Ministry of Coal worked tirelessly to ensure a consistent coal supply by enhancing production, logistics management, and inter-agency coordination. Cumulative coal production reached 207.48 million tonnes, reflecting a 9.27% growth. Coal India Ltd recorded a 7.28% increase in coal production and a 4% growth in dispatches.
Weak hydro output may fuel higher coal reliance: S&P
This is despite an increase in coal production, which touched the 1-billion-tonne mark in FY24, which was in line with the government's target of reducing the country's dependence on coal imports, S&P said.
