Hershey Bears lifted the Calder Cup for a record 12th time Wednesday when they crushed Coachella Valley Firebirds 3-2.
Washington Capitals' affiliate came back to hit hard and overcome the 2-0 deficit when Hendrix Lapierre and Connor McMichael scored a goal each in the second half of the final game.
Coachella Valley got the earlier lead Captain Max McCormick and defenseman Ryker Evans scored a goal each. Joey Daccord made 35 saves for the Firebirds while Hunter Shepard made 45 saves for the Hershey Bears.
This was the second Calder Cup for Hershey coach Todd Nelson. He has earlier guided Grand Rapids to the cup in 2017. So, besides, Bun Cook and John Paddock, Todd Nelson became the only coach to win Calder Cups with two teams.
