NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms with lightning in various regions of
Andhra Pradesh from June 15 to 19. The forecast covers parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP), and Rayalaseema. On Saturday, heavy rain is expected in some areas of NCAP and Yanam. These regions may also experience gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km per hour (kmph) during the five-day period.
According to a press release from the Met Department, "Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next four to five days." The department also anticipates similar conditions in northwest Bay of Bengal, parts of Gangetic West Bengal, the remaining areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some regions of Bihar.
The weather department reported that the northern limit of the monsoon currently extends through Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, and Islampur. Additionally, the trough from Rayalaseema to central Bay of Bengal and across west-central Bay of Bengal continues to persist between 3.1 km and 5.8 km above mean sea level.
