Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Zilla Parishad (ZP) for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar has declared plans to relocate over 35 Right To Education (RTE) beneficiary students of the Adarsh English School at Phulambri, which is now facing closure.
“The priority will be to shift students to nearby schools run by the local self-governing bodies. Govt-aided and partially-aided schools will be considered, this will be followed by private schools having the vacant quota under the RTE Act,” ZP Education officer Jayashri Chavan said.
Adarsh English School has stopped functioning as its founder is facing criminal proceedings in a multi-crore scam involving the cooperative bank and allied institutions.
Educational activist Prashant Sathe said the ZP authorities must tweak the plan in the students’ best interest. “Nearly 35 affected RTE beneficiary students were studying in the school. It is unjust to accommodate them in Marathi medium schools-run by the local self-governing bodies,” he said. Some parents, on Saturday, also staged demonstrations to press the similar demand.
