BENGALURU: Informants on illegal sex determination clinics in the state will now receive a reward of Rs 1 lakh.
The health and family welfare department issued a circular to this effect on Thursday, increasing the reward amount by allocating Rs 50,000 from PCPNDT funds, in addition to the same amount being provided under National Health Mission.
To ensure effective implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994, the health minister decided on Dec 11, 2023 to increase the amount to Rs 1 lakh.
“Information on illegal sex determination can come through anyone, even pregnant women who act as decoys,” an official said. tnn
