In a tale of contrasting fortunes for CM Siddaramaiah on his home turf, the
elections delivered both setbacks and victories. While facing a setback in Mysore segment, his party emerged triumphant in Chamarajanagar LS constituency, which includes Varuna assembly segment represented by him.
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar contested on a BJP ticket from MysuruKodagu segment and secured victory in his debut attempt.
Wadiyar defeated the CM’s close associate M Lakshmana by a margin of 1.4 lakh votes.
On the other hand, Congress’ Sunil Bose, son of social welfare minister HC Mahadevappa, reclaimed the con stituency from BJP with a resounding victory margin of 1.8 lakh votes.
While Varuna, represented by Siddaramaiah, significantly contributed to Bose’s lead, Mahadevappa’s constituency, T Narasipur, failed to match it. Even the Hanur assembly segment, held by JD(S), delivered massive support for Congress.
