Monsoon jitters for Bhopal residents as Kolar road gets flooded in very first rain
Bhopal: The residents of Kolar are feeling the brunt of negligence by officials in constructing the six-lane road. A minute of downpour on Thursday was enough to cause flooding-like situations in the area, leaving the residents worried about the upcoming monsoon season.
The residents are expressing their concerns about the half-hearted manner in which the road construction work has been carried out.
They fear that the incomplete and poorly constructed road will lead to accidents every day, especially during the monsoon season when the water level rises.
Ruchir Dubey, a resident of the area, points out that even with a little rain, rivers and streams have formed on the road. He warns that people driving at night may fall into these water-filled ditches, leading to accidents. “The condition of the road is so bad that in many places, the construction work has not even started from one side,” said Dubey.
Meera Narayan, another resident, highlights the plight of those who live on the side where the road is dug up and yet to be built. She says that when it rains, people will have to travel by boat because vehicles won’t be able to run on the flooded and incomplete road. The residents are blaming the officials for their negligence in constructing the six-lane road.
Residents feel that the authorities have not taken the necessary measures to ensure proper drainage and road construction, which has led to the current disastrous situation. The residents are demanding immediate action from the officials to fix the problem before the monsoon season arrives. “The situation in Kolar is a stark reminder of the importance of proper infrastructure development and maintenance. The negligence of the officials in constructing the six-lane road has not only caused inconvenience to the residents but also posed a serious threat to their safety,” said another resident Kapil Parihar.

It is essential that the authorities take swift action to address the concerns of the residents and ensure that the road is constructed properly to avoid any untoward incidents in the future.
“It is high time that the govt and the concerned authorities take note of these issues and take necessary steps to improve the infrastructure and ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens,” said retired teacher Charu Kumar.
The flooding-like situation in Kolar caused by a minute of downpour is a clear indication of the negligence of the officials in constructing the six-lane road. “The residents are right in demanding immediate action from the authorities to fix the problem before the monsoon season arrives,” Mansi Nema, a resident said.
