Berhampur: A 26-year-old man from
Andhra Pradesh died and three others were injured following a clash between two groups near Badigaon under Ganjam district’s Golanthara police station limits on Sunday.
Police said the clash occurred while they were returning to Kedarpur village near Ichapuram in Andhra Pradesh after enjoying a picnic at Sonapur beach in Ganjam.
The deceased was identified as A Balu Reddy of Kedarpur. He sustained serious injuries when one of the accused allegedly stabbed him. He was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The injured, also from the same village, were admitted to MKCG and their condition is stated to be stable.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives on Monday after conducting a postmortem, police said. “Two persons were detained for their alleged involvement in the clash. Investigation is on to find out the reason behind the clash,” said Bibekananda Swain, inspector in-charge, Golanthara police station. Sources said that the groups reportedly had a heated argument on the beach after consuming liquor.
