BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of existing infrastructure in government degree colleges and teacher education institutes (TEIs) to maintain and enhance quality of education and campus facilities.
Sources said the primary objective of the assessment will be to gain a thorough understanding of the state of facilities available, requirement for improvement and potential challenges faced by institutions.Besides, this assessment can help the government to plan for enhancement of the campus environment and overall learning experience for students all over the state.
The department wrote to principals of government degree colleges and TEIs on Wednesday to assess their available infrastructure and basic requirements. After this, they will have to submit the information in a Google Sheet format before the department for necessary action, official sources said. The department also requested the authorities of government degree colleges and TEIs to submit the data within seven days.
The institutions will have to mention the name and contact details along with its total land area on the top of the form. They will also have to provide information regarding the total number of students, courses (regular and self-financed) offered and student strength in each course.
For the infrastructure part, they will have to mention the available buildings with number of rooms, condition of laboratories, drinking water facilities, toilet facilities, accessibility (lift/ramp), drainage system, library, reading room and multi-purpose hall.
The authorities will have to mention about the availability of auditorium/seminar hall, hostels with bed capacity, boundary wall, playground, sports complex, internet connectivity, parking area, staff quarters and other facilities. In the end, the principals of colleges and TEIs will have to write about the requirements of their institution in detail with justification.
