Annu Kapoor responds to Kangana Ranaut's criticism: 'Honorable sister, I do not know you, please forgive me'

Kangana Ranaut recently expressed her discontent with veteran actor Annu Kapoor's comments on her slap incident at the Chandigarh airport a few weeks ago. As Kangana questioned whether society tends to dislike successful, beautiful, and powerful women more passionately, Annu Kapoor has now responded to the actress's reaction to his comments.
He addressed the burning controversy in a long note and clarified that he can never disrespect any woman, mentioning that his statement about her has been severely misconstrued and misunderstood.
He wrote in Hindi, "Dear Sister Kangana,
Some meanings are being misconstrued from the answers given to media questions, so I thought I would clarify a few facts:
1. Every woman is honorable and worthy of respect to me, so I can never disrespect any woman.
2. I do not watch movies, TV, OTT, news channels, or read newspapers, so if you wish, you can call me foolish. Being foolish is not a crime.
3. Not knowing the system, laws, and regulations of any country and making a mistake can come under crime and punishment. However, not knowing a particular person, place, or thing is not a mistake or crime.
4. Therefore, honorable sister, I do not know you. Hence, please do not consider this as a form of disrespect towards women.
5. When the media asks questions, understand that they need sensational content for current affairs, which they got from my straightforwardness. I have no relation to politics or religion, and because I have no connection to religion, I have no connection to irreligion either.
6. I am a very small and ordinary person with no special qualities. I have neither thought nor spoken any erroneous or insulting words. I am responsible for what I speak, and I am not responsible for what others understand.
7. However, if any of my words have offended you, please forgive me.

During the press conference of his upcoming film Hamare Baarah, when initially asked about Kangana, Annu Kapoor seemed unaware of her identity, asking, "Yeh Kangana ji kaun hain? Please batao na kaun hain? Zaahir hai aap pooch rahe hain toh koi bahut badi heroine hongi? Sundar hain kya? (First tell me who is Kangana? If you are asking me about her, I am sure she must be some big heroine. Who is she? Is she beautiful?)”

He further inquired if the officer was in uniform, and upon confirmation, he suggested Kangana should file an FIR against her under multiple sections.

Reacting to it, Kangana shared a clip of Kapoor's remarks on her Instagram stories and questioned whether society tends to dislike successful, beautiful, and powerful women more passionately. She wrote, "Do you agree with Annu Kapoor ji that we tend to hate a successful woman, hate her more if she is beautiful and hate her even more passionately if she is powerful? Is it true?"
