JEE (Advanced): 50,455 candidates make it to rank list

A total of 159,540 candidates (around 1.29 lakh boys and around 29 lakh girls) appeared in the JEE (Advanced) 2017of which, 50,455 have qualified and made it to the rank list across all categories. The results of the exam were announced at on Sunday.

CHENNAI: A total of 1,59,540 candidates (around 1.29 lakh boys and around 29,000 girls) appeared in the JEE (Advanced) 2017 of which, 50,455 have qualified and made it to the rank list across all categories. The results of the exam were announced at on Sunday.
The gender ratio of the successful candidates stands at 43,318 boys and 7,137 girls (86% boys and 14% girls approximately).
These candidates are now eligible to apply for over 10,000 seats in various IITs.
The category-wise successful candidates are 23,390 under general, 9,043 under OBC-NCL, 13,312 under SC and 4,710 under ST categories.
In addition, seven candidates qualified in foreign category, according to an official statement from IIT-Madras which is the organising institute for JEE (Advanced) this year.
Prof David Koilpillai of IIT-Madras congratulated all-India topper Sarvesh Mehtani of Panchkula (Haryana) and south zone topper Shafil Maheen of Talakkad (Kerala).
Text messages were sent to all the candidates on their performance. The result was available at seven mirror sites in IITs without any interruption, said IIT-M officials.
