Vikravandi bypoll: DMK to field Anniyur Siva

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president M K Stalin on Tuesday announced that Anniyur Siva will be the party’s candidate in Vikravandi assembly constituency where a bypoll will be held on July 10.
Siva is the secretary of DMK's agricultural labourers wing.
The vacancy in Vikravandi constituency arose after former Vikravandi MLA N Pugazhendhi of DMK died on April 6.
Stalin held a meeting with senior ministers Duraimurugan, K N Nehru, E V Velu, Ponmudy, MP Kanimozhi and minister for minorities welfare K S Mastan on Vikravandi bypoll. Following the meeting, new district incharges for Villupuram north and south districts were appointed.
Ponmudy's son and former MP Goutham Sigamani has been appointed as the incharge for Villupuram south district and P Sekar has been appointed as the incharge for Villupuram north district replacing Mastan.
