2 TNSTC staff suspended for not carrying out safety check
Coimbatore: An assistant engineer and a technical staff with the Tamil Nadu state transport corporation (TNSTC), Coimbatore, were suspended on Saturday after video of a loose steering wheel on a TNSTC bus went viral on social media.
A driver of a TNSTC bus which plys between Coimbatore and Mettupalayam had recorded a video of the faulty steering wheel.
It showed the steering wheel tilting up and down and panning to both sides in the steering column.
Soon after, TNSTC authorities initiated an inquiry, which revealed that a technical staff and an assistant engineer had failed to carry out safety checks before the bus departed from the depot. Hence, disciplinary action was initiated against the two for dereliction of duty and negligence.TNN
