ROORKEE: A group of people travelling in a car fired around 20 rounds of bullets at another vehicle in Narsan on the Delhi-Haridwar highway. The shooting happened on Sunday when two cars – a Thar and a Swift – came face to face at Mohammadpur Jat Village at around 6pm. At least two people seated inside the Swift opened fire at the Thar, causing the driver of the SUV to speed towards Narsan.
The shooters in the Swift continued firing and followed the Thar towards Haridwar.
Police pursued the vehicles but could not trace them after the incident. CCTV footage from the highway is being reviewed to nab the suspects.
Police have not yet established why the shooting took place and are looking into possible motives including road rage, gang war and personal enmity. “We have already pressed two teams to earmake the criminals. We will apprehend them all very soon,” said Vivek Kumar, circle officer of Manglaur, noting that vital clues have been gathered.
