Guwahati: Two persons were arrested for allegedly transporting illegal liquor consignment in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The excise department of Kamrup (Metro) district seized 17 cartoons of Indian-made foreign liquor from the Sonapur area of the city and arrested the two persons. The excise sleuths also seized the vehicle in which the liquor consignment was being transported for selling in Meghalaya.
“The persons were arrested under Section 53(1) (a) of the Assam Excise Act, 1910, for possession and illegal transportation of intoxicants,” stated statement issued by the district administration on Tuesday.
