DIBRUGARH/AMRITSAR: Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, elected MP from Khadoor Sahib while being jailed in Assam's Dibrugarh prison under NSA, met his parents on Saturday and asked them to express his gratitude to the "sangat" (community) on his behalf and continue to engage with them until his return from jail.
When they visited Dibrugarh Central Jail during the day, Amritpal's parents Tarsem Singh and Balwinder Kaur distributed homemade sweets to guards and prison staff to celebrate his stunning win in Lok Sabha elections. They were received at the airport by Amritpal's wife, Kirandeep, who has been in Dibrugarh since June 5. Amritpal has been lodged in the high-security prison since his arrest on April 23, 2023, under the National Security Act (NSA). Despite his incarceration, he managed pull off a landslide victory from the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat, beating Congress's Kulbir Singh Zira by 1,97,120 votes.
