HYDERABAD: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday spelt out the road map to ensure welfare of the people of Telangana, make the state a role model for the world and turn Hyderabad into a global investment destination in his address on the occasion of decennial Formation Day celebrations held at a grand scale at Parade Grounds.
Accusing the previous govt (without naming BRS) of inflicting “100 years of destruction in 10 years”, the CM said that “cultural and economic revival” of the state were the two key policy decisions taken by the Congress govt to fulfil the aspirations of the martyrs and four crore people of Telangana.
The CM said that fundamental freedoms of the people were usurped and social justice denied under the previous govt where the wealth of the state, which should belong to all, went into the hands of a few family members.
“We want to create wealth and distribute it among the poor,” he said.
“People of Telangana will endure hunger but never tolerate bondage. The Congress govt intends to change 10 years of autocratic governance where rulers wanted people to lose their freedom in exchange for freebies. Soon after coming to office, Congress made govt accessible to people. The fencing around Phule Bhavan (Pragathi Bhavan earlier) was removed and people could submit grievances directly to the govt. We invited applications for various welfare schemes under ‘Praja Palana’ and every guarantee will be delivered,” he said.
Pointing out that achievement of Telangana state on June 2 was not an end in itself, the CM said, “Today’s decennial celebration was an occasion to review the fulfilment of people’s aspirations and hopes. I will not go into political criticism but we can lay the foundations for the future only when we review history. It would be wise to identify past mistakes and correct them for a better future.”
The CM said that the Congress govt was not under the illusion of being all powerful but was here to serve people like servants by taking suggestions from all and moving forward by correcting mistakes.
