HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) demolished illegal structures in front of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's residence at Lotus Pond on Saturday. The unauthorized constructions, intended for Jagan's security, had encroached upon the road, causing public inconvenience.
GHMC officials acted following complaints.
The demolition aimed to restore public access and enforce building regulations.

According to a senior official of GHMC, the civic authorities removed the structures abutting the compound wall to carry out tiling work on the pavement in front of Jagan's residence. The structures were being used by security personnel, he said. An earthmover was used to remove the structures.
While local residents welcomed the action for easing traffic, Jagan's supporters argued the rooms were necessary for his safety.
