Water sharing row likely on Telangana & Andhra Pradesh CMs’ July 6 meet agenda

HYDERABAD: Sharing of river waters and irrigation projects on them, re-merger of villages from AP to Telangana, power dues, and institutions listed in Schedule IX and Schedule X of AP State Reorganisation Act are among issues that will be discussed during the meeting of chief ministers of Telangana and AP on Saturday.
A Revanth Reddy and N Chandrababu Naidu along with senior officials will be meeting at Mahatma Jyoti Rao Phule Praja Bhavan at Begumpet on July 6 to amicably resolve the pending issues between the two Telugu states.
Though the overall agenda of the meeting is still being finalised, deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who inspected the arrangements being for the meeting, said all pending issues of the state reorganisation Act are proposed to be discussed.

Political observers said there are several contentious issues. For example, Telangana CM Revanth had released on May 3 a specific manifesto of Congress for Telangana during LS campaign. The Congress vowed to get back five villages that were part of the seven mandals merged with AP. Revanth had said taking back the villages will pave the way for sdevelopment of the Sitarama Swamy in Bhadrachalam. However, Naidu recently said the seven mandals were crucial for execution of Polavaram project.
Even river watering sharing is a contentious issue. CM Revanth blamed BRS government for compromising on river water sharisng interests of Telangana.
