JAIPUR: Women in Rajasthan will now get 50% reservation in Grade-3 teacher recruitment. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has approved the proposal to amend the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act to increase the reservation limit for women from 30% to 50% in Grade-3 teacher recruitment. The BJP had promised to increase the reservation in the party manifesto for assembly elections.

Jaipur: "The state govt, under the leadership of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, is committed to the empowerment of women and their all-round development. The CM has fulfilled another important promise made in the manifesto... This decision will provide more employment opportunities to women in the state, and they will be able to become more empowered by becoming self-reliant," said a statement issued by the chief minister's office (CMO) on Friday.

"Our party has always been at the forefront of respecting women and this can be seen in the chief minister's decision to increase the reservation for women in Grade-3 teacher recruitment. BJP has always been at the forefront of working for development and empowerment of women," said education minister Madan Dilawar.
At present, there are over 25,000 posts of Grade-3 teachers vacant in the state.
Teachers' associations in the state welcomed the move and said that this would help in recruiting more women. They also said that the govt to take care of women already in service and give them posting in home districts, especially those who are widows or are facing other problems.
Vipin Sharma, senior vice-president of Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Education Teachers' Association, said, "This decision will motivate more women to apply for govt jobs. The govt must consider taking such decisions in administration such as RAS, police department or legal posts where women can empower themselves."
Narayan Singh, state spokesperson of Rajasthan Panchayati Raj and Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh, said, "The administration must ensure that the decision is implemented during the actual recruitment process."
