JAIPUR: The empowered committee for the IPD tower at SMS Hospital met on Tuesday and resolved to clear all financial and other hurdles in the project by the end of June.
The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of urban development minister Jhabar Singh Kharra, with health minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar also present. Khinvsar emphasised the need to construct the IPD Tower with 24 floors and assured that necessary financial arrangements would be made promptly.
He also highlighted the need for at least 600 additional parking spaces for the IPD Tower.
Kharra directed officials to present a feasibility report within a week. Approval for the mortuary and parking building drawings will be considered only after the arrival of the feasibility report, he said. Furthermore, Kharra instructed the SMS Hospital administration to approve all drawings of the IPD Tower by June 30, stating that no further drawings or maps would be considered after this timeline. The height of the IPD Tower was discussed, and it was unanimously decided to maintain it at 24 floors. Officials from Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) said in the meeting that the construction agency requires continuous payments to accelerate the project’s work. Kharra directed officials to transfer the contribution amount to the JDA.
The JDC executing the project reported that 67% of the project work had been completed, including the underground and ground structure, three service floors, 60% of the 14-floor structure, the main core (stairs, ramp, and lift area) up to the 19th floor (80% complete), while the electrical and finishing work was in progress.
The 24-floor tower will have a capacity of 1,243 beds, including 792 general, 150 cottage, 166 ICU, and 92 premium beds. It will feature double basement parking, two large waiting halls for attendants, medical science gallery, 20 operation theaters, a food court, and advanced labs for radiology and microbiology tests.
