JAIPUR: Sikar police are on the lookout for a man who robbed Rs 1.5 crore from his sister's house in Sikar's Khatu Shyam area. One of his accomplices was apprehended near Renwal, Jaipur, with a bag full of cash. Police had to use a machine to count the notes.
The robbery occurred late Monday night at the residence of farmer Bansiram. According to CI Rajaram of Khatu Shyam police station, the mastermind behind the heist was Vikas, who knew that his sister had recently sold a piece of land.
Vikas, along with three friends, broke into his sister's house, filled a bag with about Rs 1.5 crore in cash, and fled on a bike.
Their escape was thwarted by the Renwal police, who were on night patrol and intercepted four suspicious young men. While three managed to escape, one was caught with the bag of money. The apprehended youth, Manoj Raigar, confessed during interrogation that Vikas had orchestrated the robbery.
"The bag was filled with bundles of 500-rupee notes. Upon seeing the patrolling police in Renwal, the culprits panicked and started fleeing, leaving the bag behind," CI Rajaram said.
An FIR has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victim, Bansiram. Manoj Raigar has been arrested and is being brought to Khatu Shyam police station for further interrogation.
