DUMKA: A 16-year-old girl from Bengal was allegedly gang-raped by five unidentified culprits in Dumka on Wednesday night.
The minor, according to the police, had come to attend a wedding with her parents on the same night when the crime was committed. She had stepped out of the house after receiving a call on her mobile phone.
As she walked some distance from the house, she was intercepted by the men who allegedly dragged her to a field and committed the crime.
The culprits also threatened the girl not to reveal the incident to anyone before escaping from the spot.
Survivor sent for med test
The survivor, however, narrated the ordeal to her relatives, who took her to the Shikaripara police station on Thursday morning to file an FIR, prompting the police to take action. "We have detained a few suspects in connection with the alleged gang rape of the minor girl. They are being interrogated now," the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Dumka Sadar, Vijay Mahto, told TOI.
He added that the girl was sent to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) for treatment and medical examination.
