Sikh man brutally attacked in Kaithal district; accused arrested by police
KAITHAL: The Kaithal police have arrested both the accused in connection with thrashing a Sikh man calling him Khalistani and warning him to repeat 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The incident took place on Monday at late night in Kaithal district when a Sikh man was beaten brutally by two unidentified persons who are now in police custody.
The accused have been arrested as Sunil of Shergarh village of Kaithal district and Ishu of Singhwal village of Jind district.
Both are said to be close friends.
Sunil is a taxi driver and Ishu runs a finance business in Kaithal district.
Addressing a press conference, Kaithal SP Upasana told the media persons that both the accused have been arrested from Pega village of Jind district. Both the accused were heading to meet their friend on the day of incident and have no connection with the victim. They had verbal spat at the railway crossing following which Ishu hit the victim Sukhwinder with a brick and fled from the spot.
An SIT led by DSP Gurwinder carried out an investigation thoroughly with the help of CCTV cameras installed in the region and managed to nab the accused. Both accused aged around 30 have no enmity with the accused but one of them have a criminal background. Police had lodged a case in Hisar and Jind districts under arms act against one of the accused. They admitted their crime which was committed in an inebriated state. Now both will be produced in a local court on Saturday to seek their remand to unrearth the entire incident, she added.
