Jodhpur admn wakes to monsoon threat after student’s drowning
Jodhpur: Having miserably failed to take safety measures well in time before the monsoon hit the city, the Jodhpur administration has now directed civic bodies to make sure that incidents such as the drowning of a BA student in an under-construction nullah on Thursday do not occur again.
The adminsitration has directed all departments concerned and civic body officers to inspect ongoing development works such as drain construction, road construction, excavation, etc, and ensure all necessary safety measures in place.

District collector Gaurav Agarwal said that all open drains will be closed to prevent accidents.
A day after the drowning of the BA student in the nullah, residents of the locality vented ire on the administration and the local MLA, asking why the construction work was not completed before the monsoon.
In the past few years, six persons have died in Jodhpur by falling into under-construction or overflowing nullahs in monsoon season.
