Man held for sexual assault on teen boy

Kochi: Mulavukad police on Thursday arrested a man for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy. Jibu (43) of Ponnarimangalam in Ernakulam on Thursday, 13 June.
According to police, the boy has been subjected to sexual assault multiple times by the accused between 2020 and 2024. It was the school authorities who reported the incident to police after the student narrated his experiences during a counselling session at the school.
Case has been registered under Pocso Act.
Man jailed under Kaapa:
A 30-year-old man from Fort Kochi was on Thursday jailed under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa).According to police, accused Ashley Varghese was allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases such as threats, assaults, and attempted murder, which disrupted peace and public life in the region.
Ernakulam district magistrate issued the order under Kaapa based on the report submitted by Kochi city deputy commissioner K S Sudarshan.
Following this order, Fort Kochi police station house officer Prashanth Kumar KR, under the leadership of Mattancherry assistant commissioner, arrested Varghese and placed him in preventive detention at Central Prison, Viyyur.
