Car dealers’ body protests against new RTO rules

Kolhapur: The Kolhapur District Car Dealers Welfare Association on Monday organised a protest rally to the district collector’s office against the new rules of the regional transport department, especially against the late fine of Rs 50 per day for renewal of their fitness certificate.
The protesters asserted that if the rules are not taken back in next eight days, they will soon carry a ‘Chakkajam’ protest across the district.
Jameer Sayyad, President of the Car Dealers Association said, “We took the protest from Dasara chowk to Collector office on Monday and have given a written statement of demands to the district collector, Amol Yedge. He has assured that the sentiments will be informed to the higher authority. Today, around two thousand members participated in the protest but if a decision is not taken shortly, we will soon conduct a ‘Chakkajam’ protest across the district and the administration will be responsible for the further consequences.”
