Jayprabha Studio stir to continue
Kolhapur: The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation is going to explore all options to reclaim iconic Jayprabha Studio and throwing it open for shooting of movies, said civic administrator Kadambari Balkawade to the delegation of film and civic activists, who are on a chain hunger strike for the last five days.
Meghraj Rajebhosale, president of Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, said, “We spoke in detail with civic officials.
The civic administrator has assured to get back to us with all possible options to reclaim the studio and to open it for shooting.”
The activists, however, have decided to continue with their chain hunger protest at the pandal set up outside the studio entrance. The activists said they may consider to end their strike if the authorities comes up with the solid plan to reclaim the studio.
On Thursday, the activists tied black bands on their mouths and shoulders to mark a “silent” protest. Vijay Patkar, renowned comedy actor from Bollywod and Marathi cinema, said, “Like hundreds of others, I also started my career from the Jayprabha Studio and Shalini Cinetone in 1980s. I stand firmly with the activists from Kolhapur.”
