KOLKATA: The absence of
rain pushed up the mercury to 35.6 °C on Tuesday after a gap of five days. But the Met office expects it to climb down after the next two days as the city and other parts of south Bengal are predicted to receive enhanced rain.
“The temperature is unlikely to rise further in the next two days, following which it will dip because we expect enhanced rain, in terms of both intensity and coverage, from Thursday.
South and North 24 Parganas and Midnapore are likely to get heavy rain on Saturday. For Kolkata, it is likely to be moderate rain,” said H R Biswas, head, weather section, Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.
