In a dig at PM Narendra Modi, Rahul said that he does not have the luxury of getting instructions from God to take decisions.
He said the electoral fight in the 2014 LS polls was about the Constitution and BJP faced defeat in Ayodhya and UP because its leaders were attacking the Constitution. "Even Modi's attitude will have to change because the people of India have sent them a clear message," Rahul added.TNN |
To choose Wayanad or Rae Bareli, is my dilemma: Rahul
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who won in Wayanad and Rae Bareli constituencies in LS polls, said during his Wayanad visit that he was in a dilemma over which of the two constituencies he should represent in Parliament. "Everybody knows the answer except me. In politics, everybody knows everything except the person who is doing it," he said. At the meetings in Edavanna, Malappuram and Kalpetta, Wayanad, he said that the people of Wayanad and Rae Bareli will be happy with his decision.

Giving a tacit hint that he might relinquish Wayanad seat, Rahul said the people of Wayanad had showered him with love and support, which is much beyond elections and votes. "You have treated me as family and I can never thank you enough for that. I will remember it all my life," he said.
Also, Congress-UDF activists were seen holding a banner which read 'Dear big brother Rahulji, please don't leave us. You are our best hope. But if you must, please ask sister Priyankaji to take care of us'. The banner in the name of Wayanad UDF family.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul said he does not have the luxury of getting instructions from God to take decisions. "Unfortunately, I do not have this luxury as I'm human and god doesn't order me. For me, it is simpler. My god is the poor people of India. My god is the people of Wayanad. I just talk to people and my god tells me what to do," he said, adding that new NDA govt in Delhi was 'crippled' after being beaten by INDIA bloc .
"Opposition dealt a fatal blow to BJP. Even Modi's attitude will have to change because the people have sent a clear message. The Modi you see today is completely different from the Modi before elections," he said, raising doubts about govt's ability to lead India.
Rahul said 2024 polls were about Constitution and people gave a clear message. "Before election you saw BJP leaders saying they will tear up the Constitution and change it. After elections, you saw PM bowing before the Constitution. You can see the people have spoken. Hatred was defeated by love and arrogance was overcome by humility," he said holding up a copy of the Constitution.
He said BJP lost in Ayodhya and UP because it was attacking the Constitution. He said the recent election was not a normal one and alleged that the entire administration, including central agencies, were against INDIA bloc. ECI designed the polls to suit the PM's needs, he alleged.
Don't be sad if Rahul leaves Wayanad: KPCC chief K Sudhakaran
Meanwhile, KPCC chief K Sudhakaran said there is no point in people being sad over Rahul leaving Wayanad. He is going to lead India and won't be able to remain in Wayanad, he said tacitly at the public meet in Kalpetta in Rahul's presence. "I know the audience is happy and sad at the same time. Happy over strides made by Rahul to the political leadership of the country and sad on hearing that he will leave Wayanad," he said.
