LUCKNOW: A team of eight students of Bachelor in Fine Arts (BFA) at the Goel Institute of Higher Studies have created a 30-feet tall string portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The “masterpiece” could take shape after the team members worked round the clock for four days in a row, said Santosh Pandey, principal, Goel Institute of Higher Studies on Ayodhya Road.

Black nylon thread, weighing approximately 15 kilograms and spanning a length of about 45 kilometers, have been used for this artwork, which has already made it to India Book of Records and is awaiting entry into the Limca Book of Records.
The college fund of Rs 3 lakh has been spent on the project.
“String art is made with thread/string, that is threaded around the nail and forms a complex pattern. We chose to make a portrait of the Prime Minister of India to mark the historic moment of him swearing in for the third time in a row,” said the main artist Devashish Mishra.
“We made this portrait on college grounds by using ladders, and even used a crane to climb and give it the final touches. It is simply the passion and love for artwork that made us make this record,” said Mishra, while thanking his friends, Abhishek Maharana, Adarsh Shandilya, Laraib Kamal Khan, Abhay Varma, Sanidhya Gupta, Arushi Agrawal, and Kritika Jain.

“This magnificent portrait, crafted using the innovative technique of thread art, showcases the artistic prowess of our students. This artwork is truly a marvel,” said the principal, while inviting people who are interested in having a look at the masterpiece to campus on Friday between 9am to 4pm.
