LUCKNOW: While the state continued to reel under scorching heat with the Prayagraj remaining hottest place in the state for the third consecutive day on Monday, the state met department predicted further rise in maximum temperatures by a couple of degrees in the coming five days.
Maximum temperature in Prayagraj was 46.3 degrees Celsius followed by Varanasi airport (45.3), Hamirpur and Kanpur Indian Air Force station (45.2 each), Varanasi Banaras Hindu University station and Bulandshahr (45 each), Barabanki (44.4), Sultanpur (44.8), Rae Bareli (44.4), Bahraich and Aligarh (44.2 each), Basti (44), Mirzapur (43.8), Kanpur City (43.6) and Gorakhpur (43.1).

In Lucknow, the maximum temperature on Monday was 43.8 degrees Celsius, 4.5 notches above normal, while the minimum temperature was 26.2 degrees Celsius, a unit below normal. Partly cloudy sky towards the afternoon brought some relief from the sizzling conditions.
On Tuesday, maximum temperature during the day may touch 45 degrees mark, resulting in heat wave conditions in the city. Night will also be warm with minimum temperature expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius.tnn
