LU celebrates with vibrant programme

The Institute of Women’s Studies (IWS) and Sanskritiki celebrated International Women’s Day at Lucknow University. The program included a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, captivating dance performances, skits highlighting women's issues, a mesmerizing Bahurang fashion show, and discussions on recent Bollywood films, emphasizing gender equality, inclusivity, and economic growth.

LUCKNOW: The Institute of Women’s Studies (IWS), in collaboration with Sanskritiki, the cultural arm of Lucknow University, organised a vibrant programme to celebrate International Women’s Day under the patronage of vice-chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai.
The event, coordinated by Dr Manini Srivastava (coordinator, Women’s Studies Centre) and Prof Madhurima Lall (director, Sanskritiki), commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Prof Rai.He was accompanied by his mother and women faculty from various departments.
Prof Rai lauded women as the driving force behind societal change, commending their exceptional achievements across diverse fields. He laid emphasis on the significance of celebrating womanhood with fervor and pride.
The festivities began with a captivating dance performance by women faculty members from different departments, beautifully encapsulating the various facets of womanhood. This was followed by a thought-provoking skit presented by the IWS faculty, highlighting pivotal issues faced by women. The programme reached its peak with “Bahurang,” a mesmerising fashion show that showcased the multifaceted talents and elegance of the women faculty.
