Lucknow: UP minister of state for forest, environment and climate change, KP Malik planted ‘Harishankari’ saplings (banyan, peepal and pakar) at Kukrail range on Monday to start weeklong Van Mahotsav 2024.

Total 35 crore saplings will be planted this year. A programme was organised at Awadh forest division by Renu Singh, APCCF, Lucknow and Sheetanshu Pandey, DFO, Lucknow.
The forest department, which is the nodal department for the drive, will put tree-guards or construct boundaries at plantation sites.
Minister of state for forest, environment and climate change (independent charge) AK Saxena has asked the department to make people aware of the plantation sites in their localities and make them emotionally connect with the saplings to ensure their proper upkeep.
